Privacy Policy

Version of 4 October 2026 — applies to the Dub'Up app, on phones and in the browser (dubup.app/jouer). Version française

Dub'Up is a dubbing game to play with friends: you pick a scene from the catalogue, each player records their voice over a character, and the app puts the dubbed video together. This page explains, in plain words, what data the game handles and what we do with it.

Who is responsible

Dub'Up is published by CoreAI (France). For any question or request about your data: [email protected].

What we collect

DataWhyKept for
A device identifier generated by the app (a random string, not the advertising identifier or the serial number)To recognise you from one session to the next without an account or a passwordUntil you delete your data
For each device: the date of the last connection, the country (derived from the IP address by Cloudflare; the address itself is not kept) and the kind of device (iPhone or Android app, or web browser)To follow how the game is used and know which devices to fix firstUntil you delete your data
Your nickname, and the gender you choose (male or female)To show you to the other players in a game; to hand out roles at a glanceUntil deletion
If you create an account: your email address and your password (stored hashed, never in clear text)To find your scenes on another device, add friends, submit a scene as a creator. The account is optional: you can play without one.Until the account is deleted
The email verification and password reset links we send youTo confirm the address is yours; to replace a forgotten password24 hours (verification) or 1 hour (password), single use
Your voice recordings (the "takes")This is the game itself: your voice replaces the character's voice in the video. The Dub'Up team may also listen to them to check that the game works30 days after the game
The dubbed videos made by your gamesTo watch them again with the players of that game. The Dub'Up team may also watch them to check that the game works12 months, or until deletion
How games went (scene chosen, roles, who played with whom, timestamps)To run the game and resume it after a disconnection12 months
Videos published to the Showcase, their titles, comments and votesTo show every player the videos you chose to publish, and the comments on themWhile the publication is online, or until deletion
If you submit a scene as a creator: its files (video, images), its sheet and its titleTo review it and, if selected, add it to the catalogue with your nameUntil the scene is declined or the account is deleted
Your friends (friend code, requests, invitations), the players you block and the reports you makeTo invite friends to a game; to stop seeing a player; to moderate the ShowcaseUntil deletion
The ideas you send us (the light bulb on the home screen, “Suggest an idea”), with the app language, the device type and the versionTo improve the game. Only the Dub'Up team reads them; nothing is published, and we can't reply to each oneUntil your data is deleted
The sharing of your videos: the game, the date, the device type and — on iPhone only — the app picked in the share sheet (Instagram, TikTok, WhatsApp…), or whether you closed itTo know where Dub'Up is shared and to improve sharing. Only the Dub'Up team reads itUntil your data is deleted
App error reports: the error message, the screen, the app and system version, the breadcrumb trail (the last forty actions before the error: screens opened, buttons tapped, requests sent and their outcome, game state), the id of your current game and, in the browser, its user agent (the name and version of the browser and system)To find and fix crashes. They never contain your voice, your texts or your messages. A report is linked to your account or device when you are signed in; if it happens before sign-in (at launch), it is sent unlinked, with only the last ten actions. Our own server errors are recorded there too2 months
When the host uses dictation to write a line: the audio of that dictationTo turn it into textNot kept by us (see "Service providers")

We do not collect your phone number, contacts, location or advertising identifier — and your email address only if you choose to create an account. The app contains no analytics, no trackers and no advertising.

The account

Playing does not require an account. You can create one in the Account tab with an email address and a password: it lets you find your scenes on another device, add friends and submit a scene as a creator. We then send you an email with a link to verify the address. These emails are sent by Resend (see "Service providers"); we never write to you about anything else — no newsletter, no advertising. A forgotten password is replaced through a link sent to the account's address.

The microphone

The microphone is only on for the length of one line, and only when you start the take yourself. It never listens in the background. The permission is asked at your first recording, not when the app opens.

Dictation is a separate, optional feature: the host of a Dub Challenge can dictate a line instead of typing it. That audio is sent to OpenAI to be turned into text; the app tells you so and asks for your consent before the first dictation, and you can always type the text instead.

Your voice is used to make the video, and may be listened to by the Dub'Up team to check that the game works properly. We build no voiceprint and do no speaker recognition.

Who sees what

A game is private: only the players who joined it (by code or invitation) hear your takes and see the final video, along with the Dub'Up team. The team may look at them to check that the game works, fix a fault or handle a report. It never publishes or shares them, and uses them for nothing else (legal basis: our legitimate interest in running the game). Nothing is published unless you choose to: the Showcase only shows videos that a player chose to publish, after we review them, and every player in a video can withdraw it. Showcase comments are public and signed with your nickname. Publishing and commenting require accepting the Terms of Use, which forbid any objectionable or abusive content; every video and every comment can be reported, and every player can be blocked. In the Arena, a public link lets spectators watch the versions of a round and vote. They see no nickname or address before the result, and only nicknames afterwards.

The Dub'Up server is hosted in France. Your takes and videos are stored there and travel encrypted (HTTPS).

Your rights

In the app, Account tab, you can at any time download your data (a readable file: profile, games played, publications) and delete your account and your data, with or without an account. Deletion is immediate: it erases your address, password, nickname, takes, the videos of games you played alone, your friends, blocks and friend code, removes your publications from the Showcase, and anonymises your part in videos played with others ("Deleted player") — those videos stay with the other players, whose voices are in them too. The steps are also described at dubup.app/supprimer-mon-compte.

For access, correction, deletion or any question, you can also write to [email protected]; we answer within 30 days. You may also contact the French data protection authority, the CNIL (cnil.fr).

Minors

Dub'Up is meant for players aged 13 and over; creating an account is reserved for ages 15 and over (the age of digital consent in France). Games are private and joined only by code, invitation link or a friend's invitation: strangers cannot find you and there is no private messaging. The only messages are public Showcase comments, which anyone can report.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top is updated and the new version is published at this same address before it applies.
